It’s been pouring buckets here since Saturday so we didn’t do much over the holiday weekend. Mike had Monday off so at least he didn’t have to commute in the storm. Although it’s supposed to rain all week. The rain wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t so windy as well. No umbrella or poncho can keep you dry. I remember when I used to walk to work in the city, I would have to change into dry clothes once I got to work. And on the days I forgot to bring an extra set of clothes, I would stay wet all day. You get that soaked. Anyway… when it rains this hard around here it’s inevitable that our house starts leaking. At least it’s not our roof.
I know this looks weird but it’s the least messy way of soaking up the water from the slider track. When it’s pouring, the track fills up about every hour. If we don’t drain it, it pours out onto the hardwood floor:
Our kitchen window also started dripping - and this window has an awning over it so I’m not sure how it’s leaking:
In other news, Peter is still constantly trying to spell. I need to find him some cheap paper because he is using up all our printer paper.
This should say Xray for Gheer-bear (aka Bagheera):
I noticed this one day on my frig - he copied my store list and posted it under mine:
Peter had so much fun breaking the ice and throwing it on the sidewalk:
p.s. Our water came back on at 9:45. It’s supposed to be another cold night so we’ll try leaving the water running tonight to see if that helps us from losing it.
Our area got a rare snow fall yesterday. Some people received snow in their own backyards. Unfortunately, we didn’t get snow at our house so I had to drive to a nearby park. I wish I had taken Peter before school when it wasn’t so slushy but he had fun anyway.
The storm also brought lower than normal temperatures. Right now (at 9am) it’s only 29 degrees out. Our water pipes froze so Mike had to go to work without a shower or brushing his teeth this morning. I’m still waiting for the water to come back on…
I used to get mad at the TV weatherman when his prediction was way off, now it’s weather.com. I ‘m so annoyed that it says the high for today will be 82 but the current temp is 90. Umm…okay. Can’t “they” at least update the high for the day to 90 so “they” don’t look like complete idiots. Also it’s 90 degrees at 1:30 which means it will probably reach 95 today. 13 degrees off isn’t too bad, right?
I’ve been glued to my computer watching Hurricane Ike updates. There is just something about a huge impending storm that is exciting. Usually I would have the Weather Channel on non-stop by now but without cable I’ve been searching the web for the best coverage. Just thought I would share my favorite links for anyone else that has storm fever. I do hope everyone in the path of Ike stays safe!
